This clay figurine was excavated in 1997 from the Hoshi-no-miya archaeological site in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. Characterized by large goggle-like eyes, small ears, nose, and mouth, and a plump body shape, this figurine is known as a "Shako-ki Dogu (goggle-eyed clay figurine)". It is estimated to have been created around 2,800 years ago during the Late Jomon period.
The figurine measures 23.9 cm in height, 16.1 cm in width, and 7.8 cm in thickness. It is hollow inside, and the headdress-like protrusion on the head has a hole in it. The presence of remaining red pigment suggests the figurine was originally decorated with red coloring.
