秋田の広大で豊かな自然に囲まれ、生産者のたゆまぬ努力で育てられた黒毛和牛で、全国から高い評価を受けています。

Akita Prefecture is the third-largest rice-producing prefecture in Japan after Niigata and Hokkaido, such that it is also known as Akita, the Land of Rice. These days, this distinctive quality is being leveraged by producers raising cattle for meat and other concerned parties who are working to develop a new brand of beef based on rice as the keyword.
Data suggests that beef obtained from cattle that have been fed a rice-based diet contains elevated levels of oleic acid, which is said to help reduce bad cholesterol.
Beef with elevated levels of oleic acid has been described as being silky with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

The sire of Yoshihirafuku, a famous bull native to Akita Prefecture, attracted a significant amount of attention for coming in second place in the country at the 10th National Competitive Exhibition of Wagyu (October 2012).

秋田牛の基準について

Only meat that satisfies the following standards can be distributed under the Akita Beef label:

Breed: Japanese Black Grade: 3 or higher Production area: Must have been raised for a longer period of time in Akita Prefecture than anywhere else Feed: Must have been fed a certain amount of feed-grade rice

A mascot to spread awareness of delicious meat in a friendlier way nationwide has been introduced. We hope to see you at future events at which you might have an opportunity to meet this character in person.

キャラクターのコンセプト

Our mascot has been inspired by Yoshihirafuku, a super bull that came in second place nationwide at the Wagyu Olympics. It is our desire to have our mascot, embodying everything great about Yoshihirafuku, raise the profile of Akita Beef among consumers across the country.

As part of our efforts to forge a brand identity for and increase consumption of Akita Beef, the Akita Beef Brand Promotion Council registers stores that sell Akita Beef and restaurants that serve Akita Beef as Akita Beef Dealers in order to help develop an environment in which consumers can more easily choose Akita Beef.
